Technology

Matter, it matters!

The best thing about working in a development company is that there’s never any time. Even if it’s twice, three times or ten times as much, you are – and always will be – on fire.

You’re battling the competition to see who can bring a product to market first.

Then with the entire market to be the one to reach the desired customers.

You struggle with your own production limits, having to invest again and again to be able to produce what you have just conceived.

And you never know where a product is going to take you.

Occasionally, one of them will send you to places where the sun doesn’t shine, despite all your care.

But there are more that you have certain expectations for.

And they will happen, just in a very different way than you expected.

This might be good for the Western market – I think to myself when I come to market with a hi-tech product, but it will actually succeed in the Middle East. This is amazing news for Eastern Europe, which usually pushes the price/performance ratio – and suddenly it’s successful in North Africa. This is more for the Czechs, I think, and suddenly I see our numbers rising in France or the UK.

And of course, the black numbers are just the right proof that everything is working as you imagined. Customers want and buy what you’ve invented for them.

To Singapore with global certification

No time to waste – there is a popular Czech phrase.

Just when I was beginning to think that I had done most of my business travels for this year and that it was time to be in Holešov more, I got an interesting contact from Southeast Asia who expressed interest in our hotel retrofit solutions.

And again, suddenly everything is different.

Instead of relaxing, I have a business meeting in Singapore. In a country that is at the very top of the ‘smart’ regions. I’m heading out after the weekend and I’m extremely excited not only for the conference and meetings, but also for the whole gig of smart technology that the Singapore government has traditionally prided itself on.

What will I be there to show off? First and foremost, of course, our innovations – the world’s smallest central unit, our revolutionary approach to RF Touch 2. But also the fact that we are the first ever Central European company to achieve the demanding Matter certification, which is sponsored by the CSA Alliance.

Matter’s ambition is to unify the control of individual “smart devices” – whether they are electrical, air conditioning, heating or household appliance components. They can also be controlled in a variety of ways: by buttons on the wall, a key fob in the car, an app on the phone, TV or voice assistants. And it aims to connect the ecosystems of different manufacturers while maintaining the highest level of security.

Already in 2022, we released “element-traps” on the Thread protocol – the better of the two options offered by Matter for communication. Today, we have six tuned units in our portfolio, which are a two-channel switch element, a universal dimmer, a wireless switch, a glass touch controller, a door and window detector and a motion detector.

The Matter certification is being heard by big customers today – and I believe it will be heard in that crazy hyper-technology incubator called Singapore. A hectic metropolis where every day is frantically worked from early morning to very late afternoon. Time is of the essence here, as we developers know all too well.
